I realized recently that my last update (aside from tournaments, scheduling, and CGA) was at the end of November. We continue to have a lot of newcomers to the club (around 10 in the last month). There are now 55 people on the email list. In 2012, we've regularly had 8-10 players on Sundays and 5-8 players on Wednesdays. This is a far cry from a year ago, when it was usually just 1-2 of us (I clearly use the term "us" lightly). Most importantly, there is a growing group of players that are somewhere between 15 kyu and having just learned the rules. Some have gotten stronger, and are now in the 10-15 kyu range (or even 5-10 kyu). We still have 5-6 regulars spread between 5 kyu and 5 dan. Bottom line: whatever your strength, there are people to play. If you know any beginners (or would-be beginners), please encourage them to come out; we can always use more. Even if the other beginners don't show up, most of us quite enjoy teaching. |
